Presumably the coffee bar facade will be a bit less foreboding than Death & Co. EV.

It’s been a while since there was any news about the financial district coffee-and-cocktail bar, Demi Monde, from Death & Co.’s David Kaplan and Alex Day, and Interstate Food & Liquor’s David Blatt, but now Grub hears from Blatt that the first phase should roll out early in the New Year. Daytime coffee will bow first, at a street-level java bar that’s a partnership with L.A.-based Handsome Coffee Roasters. That should open from 7 a.m. onward daily (9 a.m. on weekends), while the subterranean restaurant and bar, accessed through the coffee shop via a “winding staircase,” will set up in the early evening for drinks and snacks or a full dinner, and keep going until 4 a.m. nightly. Quite a boon for the still-emerging neighborhood that is the FiDi — keep an eye on Demi Monde’s Twitter for further updates.
