If you’re wondering what’s with the monkey art next to and hovering over La Esquina on Lafayette Street, the Times has more on Allen Hirsch, who has been religiously making art in honor of his famous/infamous and now deceased monkey, Benjamin. The rebel primate was once described as a “cheek-chomping monkey” after it bit a woman’s cheek at an upstate inn that Hirsch owns. La Esquina doesn’t let just anybody hang out there … so, good for Benjamin. [NYT]
