Part of the news out of St. Helena this weekend — where a bevy of Napa chefs (and Richard Blais) gathered to cook some special dinners and teach a few seminars to some die-hard foodinista tourists at Flavor! Napa Valley — was that chef Michael Chiarello had to bow out of his cooking demo Saturday after undergoing an emergency appendectomy around 6 a.m. that morning. Luckily he’s fine and recovering, as the Scoop reports, and they even had him on camera Friday looking perfectly healthy and discussing his recently announced plans for his first San Francisco restaurant.
