We just received confirmation that, as Tablehopper reported earlier this week, House 530 will open tonight on a restaurant-packed block at 530 Valencia Street. It’s the new spot from the Thai House Express team, and coincidentally it’s debuting on 11/11/11 along with two other Thai places elsewhere in town, Lers Ros in Hayes Valley, and Osha Thai near Union Square. Running the show will be Paul Meeriyagerd, whose family started the Thai House mini-empire, which gives us a pretty good guarantee for the quality of the food.
The space was not formerly home to any restaurant, though as we mentioned before, it was once the site of a legendary underground punk club, The Deaf Club, from 1978 to 1980.
Once West of Pecos opens, and if and when this Japanese place actually takes over Mariachi’s (that deal might have gone south), this will definitely be one of the most restaurant-rich blocks in the city.
They’ll swing open this evening at 5 p.m., and stay open until midnight. Check it out and report back!
