As one of the most popular Top Chef-handicapping blogs, Skillet Doux will have its hands full beginning tomorrow night. But before that, author Dominic Armato (a Chicagoan who currently lives in Phoenix) has an amusing tale of what happened when he, coming from a Superdawg-loving family, tried to convince his family to love another iconic Chicago dog joint, Gene’s and Jude’s in River Forest:
Me: “I’m going out for a hot dog.”
Mom: “Superdawg?”
Me: “Nah, I’m going to go check out Gene & Jude’s.”
Mom: “Oh, Cousin Sammy took me there. He said it was the best hot dog in the city.”
Me: “What’d you think?”
Me: “What’d you think?”
