The 2nd Chicago Food Film Festival is this weekend, starting Friday at Kendall College (with a Saturday morning detour to the roasting plant of Intelligentsia Coffee). It will show both the highlights of the recent and sold out New York festival, as well as some local Chicago films (two of which will be by ourselves). And best of all, you get to taste what you see on screen, which hardly ever happens (or you’d want to happen) when you go see a movie which is, unaccountably, about something other than food. But here, there will be delicious noshes from and Pleasant House Bakery and The Butcher & Larder and all kinds of places, not to mention an oyster shucking fest and all kinds of good stuff happening all around you as you watch. You’ll want to get tickets sooner rather than later; the Brunch program and all-festival passes are already sold out, but there are still tickets for the Kendall events, including the after party/pig roast on Friday night. So check out the schedule here, but before you order tickets, enter the promo code Grubstreet11 and get 20% off the price of your individual event tickets.
Still from “Farm To Barstool,” about Pleasant House Bakery.
