Daniel Humm may be a big deal in New York these days — his restaurant Eleven Madison Park has four stars from the Times, won the big James Beard prize this year for Outstanding Restaurant in the country, and Humm took home the Best Chef in New York City medal in 2010 — but he cut his teeth in San Francisco kitchens. He gained a following and a lot of respect at Campton Place while he cooked there from 2003 to 2006 before packing his knives for New York, and next week he’ll return to the restaurant for a special dinner, November 19, in support of his new cookbook, which hits shelves today.

The dinner comes at a price, of course: $290 per person, including a copy of the book which you can have signed by Mr. Humm. It starts at 6:30 p.m. next Saturday, and you can reserve at 415.781.5555. Let’s just hope he doesn’t burn the chicken this time.
