We were ready to dismiss this as pure rumor when we saw it floated on SFoodie yesterday, but now in light of some new information it may just have some legs: Celebrity chef Charlie Palmer and his longtime developer-collaborator on hotel projects, City Core, have filed a liquor license app for a space in the Crescent Hotel (417 Stockton Street) — home of the Burritt Room. The Scoop made the connection to City Core, and gets a quote from Palmer who insists, “There’s nothing to comment on right now.” Palmer told Grub Street last year that he “love[d] San Francisco too much to open a restaurant here,” but maybe that’s changed. Could it be the actual Burritt Room space they’re eying? And might this be a new branch of Charlie Palmer Steak? Something else? Consider it filed, under DEVELOPING. [SFoodie, Scoop] Update: Yep, It’s true.
