Belgian Beer Importers Celebrate Anniversary All Over

Yeah, when you come down to it it’s a beer promotion, but it’s a good one. Vanberg & DeWulf is an importer who pioneered Belgian beer in this country, beginning 30 years ago. To mark that anniversary, they’ve arranged for themselves to be toasted tonight in bars and restaurants all across the country, including several in Chicago. The Publican, whose whole concept is built on beer from Belgium and parts nearby, is serving as national headquarters for the event, with a 6-course prix fixe menu at $65 per guest, plus beer pairings for an additional $20. The beer pairing will run the gamut of Vanberg & DeWulf’s portfolio, from golden ales to lambics, while the beer-friendly food includes smoked mussel crostini, Dungeness crab and a warm raclette. But The Publican isn’t the only place making the toast by a long ways; in fact over 25 bars and restaurants are participating, from Fish Bar and Smallbar to Hopleaf, Leopold and The Map Room, plus an assortment of Binny’s Beverage Depots, Pastorals and LUSH Wine & Spirits locations. (You can find a list here.) Cheers!
