If you’re looking for the perfect night out for that hard-to-please gourmand, and if you have $145 to spare, we’ve got a fabulous idea: Book dinner with one of Philadelphia’s best chefs, Marc Vetri, at Sportello!
Vetri’s the lauded chef behind Vetri Ristorante, Amis, Osteria, and the soon-to-come Alla Spina. Barbara Lynch is, of course, Barbara Lynch. She’ll host Vetri for a family-style dinner party and celebration of his new cookbook, Rustic Italian Food, on December 15. We’re thinking this family-style soiree is much better than whatever our family might serve this holiday season, and the price is probably about the same, as we’ll surely pay one way or another after a few too many Yellowtail-induced feuds with our parents.
The evening kicks off with prosecco and hors d’oeuvres, followed by:
Sal’s Old-School Meatballs
Salumi with Artichoke Mostarda
Celery and Endive Salad with Anchovy Dressing
Rigatoni with Chicken Livers, Cipollini Onions, and Sage
Goat Cheese and Beet Plin with Tarragon
Ciceri E Tria (Pasta with Chickpeas)
Slow-Roasted Lamb Shoulder with Rosemary Roasted Potatoes
Fish Poached in Olive Oil with Fennel Gratin
Amaretti Semifreddo with Warm Chocolate Sauce
