Azucar Lounge, the new cocktail bar taking over the long dormant Medici Lounge space at Ninth and Folsom, makes its soft-open debut this week, with a grand opening scheduled for Thursday, November 17. LiveSoMa has the news and the menu, which includes a selection of Latin bar bites and, most notably, four styles of perros calientes (a.k.a. bacon-wrapped hot dogs)!

Also, they’ve got a tasty-sounding cocktail on the list called the Yerba Buena, featuring gin, house lavender green kombucha, lime juice, and a rotating herb of the week. Alcademics has a full cocktail preview here.

The man behind all this is former Redwood Room bartender Jon Ojinaga, and we’re liking the hip simplicity of the concept: Mexican street food, cerveza, and booze.

Check the place out this week, before or after their official opening Thursday.

Azucar Lounge - 299 Ninth Street at Folsom - 415.255.2982 - Open Sunday to Wednesday, 4 p.m. to midnight; Thursday to Saturday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Kitchen closes at 11 p.m.
