• Last week Paul Kahan said his Big Star food truck might go rogue and start cooking on board, law or no law; yet Saturday night it served billionaire Tribune owner Sam Zell’s birthday party, and you’ll be amazed to learn the food inspectors didn’t raid a guy who buys ink by the barrel. (Okay, it was presumably on private property so the regs don’t apply.) Other chefs who dished up eats reportedly included Ryan Poli, Gale Gand, Bill Kim and Cleetus Friedman, while James Taylor was among the musical stars entertaining Sam and 800 of his closest friends.
