Stop-Work Order Slows Vinegar Hill House’s Progress

The devil wears permits.

Hopefully the evil chains and city notices are just a small inconvenience that the Vinegar Hill House café, Hillside, will soon overcome, because everyone (including, probably, Alan Richman!) has been waiting for Sam Buffa and Jean Adamson’s next-door offshoot since spring. The café, perched on the corner of Hudson Avenue and Water Street, is meant to have around twenty seats and serve light food, wine, and beer — more of a daytime hang than Vinegar Hill House proper. But for now, a taste of bureaucracy.
