Hops & Hominy Brings the South to Union Square

We heard back in June that the former Azul space (1 Tillman Place) was becoming something called Hops & Hominy, and now Eater gets some further details from owner David Baeli. The concept is southeastern, and that appears to mean there’ll be southern staples like fried chicken and barbecue, but also a raw bar. He’s hired architect Said Eghbal, who was responsible for the design of Monk’s Kettle, and they’re aiming for a January opening. Along with Boxing Room, Southpaw, Criolla Kitchen, Cedar Hill, this means pretty much every end of the city will be hit by the southern trend. [Eater]
