Moving in next door to the upcoming State Bird Provisions on Fillmore Street, just behind the Fillmore auditorium, will be Hapa (1527 Fillmore Street), a small new brick-and-mortar spot from Hapa Ramen’s Richie Nakano. “I love all of SF,” Nakano tells us, regarding the choice of location. “But finding that space next to State Bird and being close yet far enough away from Japantown just felt right.” He plans to continue doing the Hapa Ramen stand at the Ferry Building, as the Scoop reports, and will add some non-ramen items to the new menu at Hapa, including sandwiches and a rotation of starter items.
The space is only about 1,000 square feet, formerly home to Harputs Market, and will seat about 28 with an open kitchen. Nakano’s aiming for an spring 2012 opening.
