Food Trucks

Big Star Truck To Go… Arty Tonight at MCA

So apparently we were half right and half wrong about the Big Star truck’s strategy— it’s not just serving on private property to skirt the law, it’s skirting it by handing out free food instead. But we were right that it’s out to flout the law as publicly as possible— and to demonstrate that food trucks aren’t hurting anybody. Because tonight Consuela, the Big Star truck, will make its public debut outside the Chicago Ideas Festival at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago, following a session on creativity in business… which just happens to have one Paul Kahan, chef and partner of the group that owns Big Star, among its lineup. (Homaro Cantu and Alison Weber of Levy Restaurants are also on panels.) Maybe that’s why the first announcement came on Kahan’s personal Twitter account, not Big Star’s. Anyway, if tacos sound pretty much synonymous with creativity to you, get yours free outside the MCA tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. UPDATE 4:27 p.m.: Via Twitter, they now say they will not be on MCA property, exact location to be announced.
