22-year-old Tyler Stone, an ambitious personal chef based in Sacramento, will be the only almost-local competitor on the new season of Top Chef, as Bravo revealed yesterday. San Francisco got left out of the mix this time around, though there are several chefs each from Seattle, L.A., Chicago, and New York. Stone consulted last year on the menu at Ma’Velous, that wi-fi-free coffee shop on mid-Market in S.F., and he’s cooked numerous private dinners for the likes of John Tesh, The Doobie Brothers, and Vice President and Mrs. Cheney. Top Chef: Texas premieres November 2. [Grub Street]
