Are you sitting down? Good. Because you are about to have your mind blown. The Tribune reports that Rick Bayless will star in a circus show “designed for and around him,” called “Rick Bayless in Cascabel.” We couldn’t make this up if we tried. According to official sources, attendees will experience a “theatrical adventure while enjoying a sumptuous feast, world-class circus acts, and a tantalizing love story starring celebrity chef Rick Bayless.” You know you want to hear more details.

The Tribune has some details on the plot, including that it will take place in a Mexican boarding house in the 1940s, and Bayless will play a chef “who tries to seduce a woman with no appetite by filling her heart with food.” The show will run next year from March 21 through April 22 at the Lookingglass Theatre, and tickets will go on sale on September 27. Prices will range from $180-$205, which includes a three-course meal and non-alcoholic beverages.

Experience an unforgettable theatrical adventure while enjoying a sumptuous feast, world-class circus acts, and a tantalizing love story starring celebrity chef Rick Bayless.

EXTREMELY LIMITED ENGAGEMENT
March 21 through April 22, 2012 at Lookingglass Theatre in the Water Tower Water Works on Michigan at Pearson

Delicious, sumptuous, magical cuisine is served nightly at La Cascabel, a boarding house at the end of a dusty road in 1940s Mexico. But the house chef is in love with a woman with no appetite. Will he find a way to her heart despite a bumbling maitre d’, an acrobatic gardener and a tightrope-walking sous-chef?

Cascabel is sensory dining unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. A feast of vibrant flavors from Rick Bayless’ famous Frontera Grill, prepared by the master chef himself, collide with heart-stopping circus acts from Tony Hernandez, creator of Lookingglass’ hit circus Hephaestus and a charming love story by Heidi Stillman, author of award-winning productions Hard Times and The Bothers Karamazov. Don’t miss the culinary experience of the year, taking place inside Lookingglass’ intimate theatre inside the historic Water Tower Pumping Station in the heart of the Magnificent Mile.
