The prominent spot at 409 Gough Street (between Hayes and Grove) most recently occupied by most-unimaginative-restaurant-name contest winner Ristorante Allegro, has been scooped up and will be transformed into Dobbs Ferry. As the Scoop reports, this will be a “California bistro with East Coast sentiments” from one-time Rising Star chef Mike Yakura (Ozumo, and formerly of Le Colonial) and partners Scott Broccoli and Danny Sterling. They like the idiosyncratic nature of the split space, half of which was occupied by a kebab place at 406 Gough, which reminds them of weird spaces where people make do on the East Coast. They envision using the “kebab side” for a daytime grab-and-go concept. No word yet on when they plan to open, and they still need to land a full liquor license. [Scoop]
