Neon lights are as quintessential to the New York eating experience as, say, disgruntled waitresses. And this week, there’s an art instillation by Kirsten Hively of Project Neon to bring us back to the best of ‘em. City Room says the show includes signs that “scream out ‘LIQUOR’; they direct you toward a hotdog.” Hively documents a retro sign for the Cork & Bottle Liquor Store, and the red-and-green blink of the Papaya King and Chinese takeout joints, among other iconic restaurants and fixtures. Her photographs will be featured at City Reliquary, where the Second Avenue Deli’s original sign exists. [City Room/NYT]
