Grub Street has confirmed that Chef Louie Night mastermind Louis DiBiccari is the mystery chef behind soon-to-open Storyville, with Woodward’s much-loved “English Bill” Codman handling the beverage program. Nightclub titan Brian Lesser owns the place.
The spot is named after the legendary 1950s club that once occupied the same Exeter Street space. Musicians like Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker flocked to the smoky sanctuary; Holiday even recorded an album there. The original “Storyville” was a notorious Red Light district in New Orleans. As such, the reincarnated Storyville will have a bordello feel, with music, dining, and dancing. The space will be divided into a speakeasy, fittingly called the Bordello Room, and a nightclub. Naughty!
We’re told that DiBicarri will blend the Big Easy with Boston in dishes like duck a l’orange and beef Wellington, built for sharing; Codman plans to concoct a “playful” list of authentic Tiki drinks and New Orleans classics. It opens later this month; of course, we’ll keep you posted on an exact date.
