The end could easily be near for Pennsylvania’s beleaguered Liquor Control Board. Yesterday, Governor Tom Corbett, who campaigned on the promise of dismantling the state’s liquor store system, announced the formation of the Advisory Council on Privatization and Innovation, a panel composed of 23 members that will begin deliberating the potential for transferring control over state-run services to private industry, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. And with former LCB chairman Jonathan Newman on board, you better believe that privatizing liquor sales will be high on the panel’s agenda when it begins meeting in the coming weeks. [Post-Gazette]
