First Look at Alain Allegretti’s La Promenade des Anglais, Opening in
We haven’t heard much about La Promenade des Anglais, Alain Allegretti’s renovation of the old Bette space on West 23rd Street, since renderings of the dining room surfaced last month. But rest assured: They’re in full friends-and-family mode at the moment, and will be opening their doors to the public at some point next week. When they do, expect a looker that lives up to the restaurant’s South of France–inspired name: Dark wood, checkered floors, and velvet-lined booths are all there (you can see the space in our slideshow). As for what you’ll be eating, the menu is filled with dishes that are equal parts Manhattan and Mediterranean: vitello tonnato with sweetbreads; pasta with ratatouille; bouillabaisse-style fish soup; and, of course, a Niçoise salad. Take a look at the space, some dishes, and the lunch and dinner menus, straight ahead.
