After initial plans for the Playboy Club to reopen relatively close to its original Gold Coast location, Crain’s reports that the nightclub is now looking in the near North Side. The owner of Il Mulino, Fred Latsko, decided to not go through with the sale, claiming that, “I think a lot of people didn’t like the idea.” Interestingly, Latsko is teaming up with both Michael Chow and Philippe Chow for two completely separate projects. To be clear, the restaurateurs share a last name, but are not related. Could either of them be moving in instead?
As first reported by Eater, Philippe Chow is looking to open an outlet of his New York restaurant, Philippe, in Chicago. He even told Eater that he wanted the Il Mulino space. Meanwhile, Crain’s reports that Michael Chow is planning to expand the Mr. Chow empire to Toronto and “possibly Chicago’s Gold Coast.” Latsko explained that he would open either one or the other, “but not both.”
