This Wednesday, October 5th**, Hollywood hospitality titan George Abou-Daoud is opening Township Kitchen Americana and Saloon, a new restaurant and bar that replaces his shuttered District on Sunset Blvd. Township will place true blue Yankee comfort food on the mantle here, with planned dishes including New England clam chowder, Memphis baby backs, Detroit hot dogs, Dixie pimento cheese, Louisiana shrimp boil, and even a Yankee pot roast. Abou-Daoud, a proud New Yorker, makes no mention of any Cali-centric fare for us locals, but to make all the thumping patriotism go down a little easier, the bar will be similarly devoted to classic U.S. spirits.
Township will stress an emphasis on bourbons, U.S. whiskeys, rye, and corn whiskeys, as well as twelve lesser-seen, regional drafts, like Idaho’s Sweetgrass IPA and Montana’s Moose Drool Brown ale, as well as goodies like Gonzo Imperial Porter. Cocktails will stick to the traditional as well, with mint juleps, boozy egg creams, and Texas tea.
A new Abou-Daoud concept, kept tight and often with a thrilling chef at the helm, is typically something to get excited for. Keep your eyes on the website and a Facebook page for opening details as Township readies to serve L.A. this Monday.
