That auction of items from the legendary Elaine’s occurred yesterday and raised nearly 400 grand, DNA Info reports. The vaunted Table No. 1 was estimated to fetch $400 to $600 and instead went for $8,750, while a vintage cash register sold for $4,063 and a butcher-block table for $2,813. The buyers of the former two items were from Massachusetts and Connecticut, respectively, so perhaps they’re big Woody Allen fans, Elaine’s being the numero uno of all the director’s restaurant cameos. Still no concrete word on the fate of the space. [DNA Info, Earlier]
