It’s really not funny. According to MSNBC, 55 people are sick and eight are dead as a result of listeria food poisoning infections tied to contaminated cantaloupe. Officials are investigating the outbreak tied to Rocky Ford–region brand whole cantaloupe, shipped by supplier Jensen Farms of Holly, Colorado. The FDA has announced a recall in the affected areas. This shouldn’t be consoling or anything, but victims are mostly old people. [MSNBC]
