Animal Rights Group Pushes for Warning Labels on Foie Gras?

While California chefs lament the impending statewide ban on foie gras, a group called the Animal Legal Defense Fund is petitioning the USDA to put cigarette-like warning labels on foie gras sold across the country. Their spurious claim: the over-stuffing of ducks leads to their livers becoming possibly diseased, therefore “Foie gras products are derived from diseased birds.” We’d say “excessive foie gras intake will lead to high cholesterol and love handles” is probably a more accurate statement.
