Andros Diner Redux?

It’s always sad to see a good diner go, which is why we were bummed when we learned of Andros Diner’s tax troubles. The Belmont institution, which lent a layer of old-school-greasy-spoonitude to a gentrifying ‘hood, was ultimately seized by the state after failing to pay more than $96,135. Needless to say, business trailed off after the seizure, and the space is now abandoned. But at last, hope is on the horizon. Per the Globe, the spot has a new owner, Peter Mamounas, who bought the property with his son. The duo has several people interested in taking over the abandoned restaurant, which needs some updates and wee cosmetic repairs. Hopefully they’ll reopen a similarly themed enterprise. And hopefully they know a terrific accountant! [Globe, Earlier]
