
There’s something nice about the news, particularly this week, that Alison Price Becker — who had to shut down Alison on Dominick Street not long after 9/11 — is coming home. The Times has details on her first New York City endeavor since closing shop in 2002, called Alison 18, in the Flatiron district. The vibe sounds similar to Dominick Street, with the same chef (Robert Gurvich), same designer (Asfour Guzy), more aubergine, less midnight blue, and a spot-on perspective on the current food scene. “I recognize that people are working hard, eating out more and they want simpler things and places where they are comfortable going back to,” Alison tells the Times.
