A New Place for Pie Opens on Market: Pastry Cupboard

After a year vacant, the former Bistro Clovis space (1596 Market Street at Franklin) came alive again last week as the Pastry Cupboard. It’s the first retail venture for former Slanted Door pasty chef Chona Piumarta, who’s been doing catering and wholesale cookies, pies, etc. for a few years. At the new shop you can find breakfast and lunch items, some gluten-free options, and Piumarta’s signature bar cookies and pies, like the apple-berry-sour cherry pie pictured at left, and her favorite: the blueberry-buttermilk pie.
