In a move that’s best described as a true sign of the times, William Bonforte, Stephen Slaughter and Andrew Zuccarini, the team behind the Green Egg’s Cafes in South Philly and NoLibs have just inked a deal to open a third, more kid-friendly location at 1301 Locust Street in the former home of the strip joint, Signatures, and a long line of seedy and shady establishments going back decades. The Collegiate Guide to Greater Philadelphia from 1968 describes the scene there as a place where “lady truck drivers dance with each other,” and when the “trade gets rough” “beer bottles fly.” The Insider reports that the property will be home to a more G-rated scene and will share the building with Nest, a gym and children’s resource and activity space that’s scheduled to open later this month.
