Grub Street broke the news back in December about D&H; Sustainable Jewelers (2323 Market Street), which wanted to install a wine bar in back of the store, on the small mezzanine. They had to negotiate a bit with neighbors and Planning and such, but their liquor license finally came through, and the Scoop reports on the new name for the bar itself: Rose Cut Wine Bar. They’re pretty sure it’s the first of its kind: a wine bar in a retail jewelry store, where each glass gets you closer to spending money you otherwise wouldn’t. As discussed earlier, featured wineries will rotate every few months, and owner Shawn Higgins hopes to help some of his favorite local wineries, who don’t necessarily have their own tasting rooms, find new clientele in the city.
