Adding to opening chaos scheduled for early next week, Bleeding Heart Bakery & Cafe announced that it will open on Monday, August 22. Located adjacent to Roots Handmade Pizza on Chicago Ave., the massive space will be divided into two operations. The first will be a traditional bakery, where you’ll be able to score pastries, coffee, and tea. This will be much like the shop’s first location in Roscoe Village. But the second portion is something completely different; there will also be a cafe serving American-style diner food with what they are calling a “Bleeding Heart twist.”

Monday through Thursday, the café will be open for breakfast and brunch from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. But starting at 7 a.m. on Friday, it will be open until 4 p.m. on Sunday — a full 57 hours. That makes this an excellent new late night option for the area. It’s big, too; the café can seat 110 people on the first floor, and, once construction is complete, an additional 60 can fit upstairs.
