Now Wal-Mart’s Pulling the Plug on Wine Kiosks

Game Over?

The troubled LCB took another sharp blow this week when big-box behemoth Wal-Mart announced that it was canceling plans to install 23 of the ill-fated automated wine vending machines at stores across Pennsylvania. It’s got to sting, too. Not so long ago, Wegmans dropped the bombshell that it wanted the LCB to get its wine kiosks out of its stores. Sadly, the state liquor board won’t admit defeat in this dismal venture. A rep told KYW Newsradio that the agency is still trying to “find retailers who are willing to take the risk and partner with us.” We guess they didn’t get the memo about plans to kill the program off for good in September.
