West Loop: Who should we credit with this story? Late last night, chef Jeff Pikus (Maude’s Liquor Bar) tweeted that Veerasway looked like it was “no more.” The 312 Dining Diva was first on the scene with news that the Indian restaurant was “temporarily shuttered because it’s reconcepting.” Then Eater confirmed with the owners, Chris and Angela Lee, that they’re turning the space in to Grange Hall Farm Burger, which will serve “free-range” burgers. Rogers Park: Speaking of ground beef, BopNgrill, a Korean-inspired burger joint, is opening this week. There are numerous ingredients one can add to the burger, but we’re thinking that you should take the bibimbap route and get an egg on top. Check out the menu here. [Urban Daddy]
West Loop: Jennifer Olivera, author of Food Lovers’ Guide to Chicago, will be hosting a book signing and food demonstration at the French Market on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. [French Market]
West Town: On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., Dodo will be taken over Cafe Potjiekos, an African pop-up restaurant by chef Jeremy Brewington. Wine and cocktails from Dodo will be offered to pair with dishes such as bobotie casserole and droewers sausage. [Metromix]
