“I busted out the Bond pose for our front of house staff, since they were, predictably, giving me a hard time,” says Quince wine director David Lynch of his shoot for San Francisco Magazine’s new Food Issue. “Cody (the photographer) of course had me do it again, but honestly it couldn’t have been more than twice. I thought it would be a fun outtake to give to my wife, not the cover of a freakin’ magazine!” Bon Appétit contacted Lynch, who’s going to be writing the “Wine Insider” column for them starting in September, to ask how in the hell he landed the cover of the mag, and of course he has no idea. But here in San Francisco, obviously, we treat our wine people like action heroes. Lynch, trying to be self-deprecating/modest, sees it another way. “Other than Mad and the supermarket tabloids, I can’t think of many magazines who deliberately put a moron on their cover. I thought it was a bold choice on SF’s part.” [SF Mag via Bon App]
