San Francisco’s only culinary bookstore, Omnivore Books in Noe Valley, recently purchased the antiquarian cookbook collection of one Jeremiah Tower, who returned to town this past weekend for Chez Panisse’s 40th. Tower stopped into the store this morning to write his name in a bunch of the books, and owner Celia Sack immediately tweeted, “Such a dapper man.” Sack noted in her store newsletter that she’s already sold a bunch of the books to chefs like Thomas Keller, Cindy Pawlcyn, and to Alice Waters herself. “I can’t describe the pleasure it gives me to disseminate a grand collection from a great chef to others who will appreciate and use the books for their lifetimes,” says Sack.
