International food critic Sophie Gayot, of Gayot Publications, recently paid a visit to S.F. and stopped in to see fellow French woman Dominique Crenn at Atelier Crenn. She finds much of Crenn’s food “verry enteresting,” and the two have a lively video chat, with much hand-gesturing, about Crenn’s techniques in several dishes. Also, among the takeaways, Crenn talks about how her mother grew up on a potato farm in Brittany, which is why she has to have a potato dish always on her menu.
