Demitasse, the coffee, tea, and chocolate laboratory we discovered back in May, grand-opens today in Little Tokyo. The adorable shop is equal parts specialty chocolate shop and hyper-sourced caffeine headquarters where each cup is paired with a single truffle that compliments the taste of the single-origin mud, the beans of which come provided by Equator Coffees, winner of Roast Magazine’s “roaster of the year” award in 2010. Even better, today’s opening comes with a free dessert!

Owner Bobak Roshan, who has taken a very scientific approach to forming the perfect cup, tells us the coffee here is pulled with precision over a halogen siphon bar in full immersion brewers, while iced coffee will come in cold sake bottles and loose leaf tea is paired with timers and handpots to to making steeping a snap. In addition to iced coffee and tea, there will be affogatos and a selection of edibles from spots like FarmShop and Jin Patisserie. To celebrate today’s opening, Bobak is giving away cookies from Batch from Scratch to every customer, a treat made by his former law school pal and recent Masterchef contestant Esther Kang.

Demitasse, 135 S. San Pedro St, Little Tokyo. 213-545-1047.
