Over the liquor license wires today Grub Street discovers that Castro bar owners Tim Eicher and Robert Giljum are adding yet another bar to their growing empire: The Midnight Sun (4067 18th Street). The bar celebrates forty years in business this year (the first ten of which were at a different location at 506 Castro), and this is the second acquisition in recent months by this team, who also own Q Bar with another partner, and who bought The Edge back in January. If the interior makeover of the Edge is any evidence, a remodel may be in the cards for the windowless Midnight Sun as well — some windows to the street might be nice! — but we’re assuming it will retain its identity as a video bar with slightly older crowd and a popular happy hour.
