Free food from Menton? Yes, please! That’s what one frisky participant in Globe critic Devra First’s weekly online chats offered up earlier today, posing as chef Barbara Lynch. To wit: “Comment from Barbara Lynch: We are doing a free, open seating, tomorrow, 12 noon to 3pm @ Menton to try out our new Fall dishes.” Needless to say, the peanut gallery went wild. Sadly, Menton will not issue free food tomorrow, so don’t show up expecting a frugal fall meal. Per the Globe: “NOTE: The person on this chat purporting to be Barbara Lynch is (no surprise) not actually Barbara Lynch. Please do not head to Menton expecting a free tasting.
