Baia, From a N.Y. Chef, Headed for Mission Bay

Back in January we heard about a restaurant project called Baia coming to Old Oakland, from chef Edward Higgins. Today, we see the East Bay Express announcing that that deal is kaput, and Tablehopper got in touch with Higgins for further details. It seems he’s found a spot in Mission Bay that he’s not yet ready to announce, and he’ll be bringing his modern Sicilian concept to this 49-seat-space by spring of 2012. Higgins has previously worked at Hearth and Insieme in NYC with chef Marco Canora, and currently works at Quattro at the Four Season Palo Alto. [Tablehopper]
