Watch Chicago Chefs Pay Last Respects to El Bulli

When Grant Achatz wants to show his appreciation, he usually creates a video. To celebrate The French Laundry’s 16th anniversary, he compiled a nearly eight minute montage for his mentor. So, what did he do to honor the closing of Ferran Adrià’s El Bulli? Well, he gathered up some of the best chefs in Chicago (Curtis Duffy, Jeff Pikus, Andrew Brochu, and Dave Beran), turned “Bittersweet Symphony” up really loud, and got them all to explain what the acclaimed Spanish chef did for them. “The guy changed my life,” says Achatz about halfway through the video. Hopefully, this isn’t the last you’ll hear about El Bulli and Chicago; Achatz has hinted at a possible collaboration at Next. Either way, check out the video below.
