Yards Brewing Co., which has pretty much built its reputation upon consistently turning out an impressive repertoire of tasty ales, and only tasty ales, just brewed the first-ever lager-style beer in the brewery’s 17 year history. Yards V.P. Steve Mashington tells Grub Street that the new small batch brew — just six barrels exist — was made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Folk Festival, which takes place at the Old Poole Farm near Schwenksville, PA in August. And the Yards beer garden at the fest is one of the two places you can taste the aptly titled Yards Philly Folk Fest Lager. The other place, of course, is the brewery’s tasting rooms, but no one’s saying when.
