As you may have heard, local chef, writer, fundraiser, Michael Pollan acolyte, and educator Samin Nosrat has been doing a popular series of pop-up meals at Tartine Bakery called Tartine Afterhours — as we speak she’s preparing the second of two three-course Catalonian feasts for a sold-out, by-lottery-only crowd. Today we bring you a video from The Perennial Plate in which Nosrat takes them on a farm tour of the local sources for one of her previous dinners, including Riverdog Farm in Yolo County, Sunny Slope Orchard in Vacaville, and Pluck and Feather in Oakland.
One important takeaway: When a wild boar mother comes charging at you, don’t run — face her down, and kick her in the nose.
