Tonight and every Thursday night hereafter, The Corner’s chef, John Taus, will host a barbecue on the restaurant’s sweet second story deck. He will have a grill set up on the perch that overlooks 13th Street, and serve up barbecue, grilled dishes and other summery cookout staples. Tonight’s festivities will be limited to a single seating for 25 to 30 people starting at 7 p.m. In weeks to come, Taus will do two seatings for the weekly cookouts at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. “Basically I’m throwing a big party up on the roof-deck,” Taus told Grub Street. “You know, like a cool, laid back cookout with really good food and everyone has a lot of fun.”
Tonight’s kickoff will feature barbecue baby back ribs, corn bread, collard greens, black bean and avocado salad, succotash and strawberry pound cake. The cost is $30 per person.
In coming weeks, Taus will cook different dishes, like brisket, barbecue chicken and roast suckling pigs, and team up with other chefs for collaborative cookouts.
