Step Inside Bottle Cap, Now Open in North Beach

The new restaurant in the former Washington Square Bar & Grill space at 1707 Powell, Bottle Cap, swung open its doors for a soft opening over the weekend. Tomorrow they open for real on a full lunch-and-dinner schedule from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Chef-owner Dane Boryta (formerly of Sens) and chef de cuisine Matt Sullivan (formerly of Blue Plate) are doing a menu of hearty, New American/California fare (see menu below). And in the bar, Bourbon & Branch alum Pete Gowdy is mixing up a host of classic cocktails and twists on classics, including a Modern Negroni. Also, as you can see from our slideshow, they’ve kept most of the wood in the well-used bar area intact, but otherwise brightened up the space with wallpaper, paint, and bright turquoise tabletops. Also note that brunch kicks off this Saturday.
