Interesting news for anyone who’s ever gratefully drowned their sorrows at Stella’s scenefully stellar weekend brunch: Chef Evan Deluty plans to open another restaurant … that is, if South End residents agree.
The South End Patch reports on a heated neighborhood association meeting between Deluty and Franklin Square residents, some of whom fear that a seven-days-a-week Latin-themed eatery with a full bar and patio might disrupt the tenor of quiet West Newton Street.
According to the Patch, at a community meeting the other day residents worried about “parking availability, noise from patrons and delivery trucks … and how ambiance of the restaurant would fit onto a street that one resident referred to as ‘a hidden gem.’” Others fretted about overflowing Dumpsters. On the other hand, some people speculated that Deluty’s plans for a patio might make the street safer, especially for single women walking home late at night.
Deluty attempted to soothe residents by assuring doubters that he’s a “peaceful man” who’ll work with the neighborhood doubters to address their concerns.
Here’s our concern: Another Latin-themed restaurant?
