So Long, Mat Schaffer

The Herald’s restaurant reviewer is moving on to greener pastures after taking a buyout from the newspaper, reports Adam’s Hospitality via p.r. rep Chris Haynes and the Globe. According to their post, “voluntary buyouts” were offered to all 385 employees, who would then leave the paper by July 15. Looks like Schaffer snapped up the opportunity. His final review was of Temazcal, and he really loved the suckling pig, so at least he’s going out on a happy note. As Boston Restaurant Talk mentions, he’s been with the paper since 1998. Wonder how and if the Herald is going to cover food in the future? Hat tip to local critic MC Slim JB for the heads up. [AH]
